iReel Reviews By DON ALLEN Mother love in great big portions ts @erved a la Fox in “Silver Wings,” wterring Mary Carr, which started an ied run at the Apollo Theatre night, There seems to be a sort of a “Mother Derby’ being run these days, ‘Dut as far as we are concerned, Mary Carr, the real mother of six children, would give all the other screen mothers enormous handicaps, start at Woratch and pass them at a canter. ‘This latest mother-film has tears— wodies and oodles of tears—and it just weems as though the mother heart of Mary Carr must have been smashed nd scattered in pieces much after the fashion of a hroken electrio light bulb. ‘The story Is one of a mother and her brood, some of whom are worthy and get the wrong end of everything and the others who are unworthy and seem to receive all that is good. That fs, it runs along that way until the very end, when all turns to sun- shine and gold and love files into the mother’s household on silver wings. The story is well told, well directed ‘and for those who like to sob a bit should prove very attractive. It has some wonderful photography and the acting {s all that could be de- sired, espectally that of the dainty lttle star. To add td the enjoyment of last evening Mrs. Carr, accompanied by a few of her own little ones, appeared and spoke a few pleasant words, ‘The story is a welcome relief from the superheated sex stuff that has cluttered up so many films recently and is well worth the seeing. .
