It was denied that three Fed- era! Prohibition agents had been sus- pended in the case. The whiskey, thirty-six bottles packed in each barrel, was loaded on trucks at the St. John’s Park freight terminal of the New York Central at 10 o'clock Tuesday morning. The trip should not have taken more than half-ah hour, but it was five hours ‘pefore the trucks reached the Ward Line piers at the foot of Wall Street. The last batch of barrels was being swung toward the hold of the Mexico when one craslied to the deck. There was a rush of longshoremen to sal- vage what they could, and it was discovered that the liquor that came from broken bottles was only soda of the cheapest kind. An Investiga- tion showed soda had been subst- tuted in all the 175 barrels, the total worth $126, and the shipment was hauled from the hold Chief En- forcement Agent Persons said no Prohibition agents had been detailed for the consignment.
