Charged with the theft of $3,900 ft bail bonds and fines received in Jefferson Market Court March 21, 2921, Irving Jacobs, twenty-three years old, of No. 83 South Seventh Street, Brooklyn, was arrested early this morning near the Strand The- atre, 47th Street and Broadway, by Detective William Haake of the 4th Inspection District. According to the police, Mortimer M. O'Sullivan, at that time clerk in Jefferson Market Court, asked Jacobs, who was in the bail bonding business, to take the money and bonds, as he had on previous occasions, to the ity Chamberlain's office. Jacobs, it i alleged, instead of making the de- livery, disappeared. Detective Hanke, who knew the Young man as Chester Jacobs, was in front of the Strand Theatre this Morning when he heard a man call to another a short distance away, “Chester, wait for me." The detec- tive said he discovered that ‘Chester’? was Irving Jacobs and placed him un- der arrest. Jacobs, according to the police, has ‘been all over the country since he dis- appeared and returned because of his wife's illness.
