By Capt. Robt. Scofield Wood ~.4(D.F, C., M. C. Croix de Guerre with four palms; formerly Command- @F 167th Squadron, Royal Air Force.) ‘RADIO SHOWS POPULAR. Radio shows seem to be the popular \\qort of diversion at tho: present time ‘} fNow when one meets a friend the topic © of light conversation (is not what plays have you seen, but “have you been to this or that radio show?" The amateurs in NewYork took a leap in the dark, 20 to speak, and landed very successfully wahen they staged their Second Annual Radio. Convention and Exhibit. Being a success, it scoms to have Inspired city ‘and town throughout the United States to try its hand at staging © wireless show. rookiyn ia to blossom forth next week its first raido exhibition, which te to be held in the armory of the zith Di- vion, Signal Corps, in Dean’ Street, near ‘Washington Avenue. Some of the things to be shown at this show are on view for the first time, so that the public can + g@t_a good look at them, and the various, exhibitors are going to have experts there to try to answer any and all ques- “dons that will be asked. Bpecial Iectures and demonstrations haye been planned for the benefit of the Rew comers in the field, and Uncle Sam Sis taking @ hand in the showing of Sgome of its latest radio equipment. One “ot the ny. features at the show, and one thht will appeal to most of us, is the faldo’ equipped barber shop, where one can get a shave und hear the latest news and-concerts to the exclusion of ‘the usual tonsorial repartee that is usu- ally considered the unpleasant part of the operation, + Chicago, not to be outdone by any of the other cities, while not trying to dis- tract the attention of the public from » any othe? show, is already’ plasternig the universe with advance notices of a radio show, to be reld at the Coliseum during # the. week of Oct. 14, 1922. The folks “trom Chica, admit they would like to put the show on os soon as possible. ‘They explain that the manufacturers @o-themseives justice at ‘the vf time in such a stupendous affair ‘a8 they contemplate, so they are forced to wait until the fall so as to give everybody a:chance to come in to the best advantage. It seems that the folks from the Windy City are out to estab- lish a record in radio exhibitions. (J. O. Smith please note.) EDUCATION BY RADIO.
