These Were more artists, more acts and more | lohypops. ‘The lollypops were din added feature along with some of the acts, and the/ wudience, grown-ups as well as young- | ters, ate them up together. It was a great show on the stage| and out front, Everybody—father | 4nd mother and the clildren—wearing dunce caps and licking lollypops a Ia Wesicy Barry while stars from Broad- way's best productions and movie stars played, danced and talked for their greater amusement. And on top of acts by such players a4 Frank Fay of his own “Fables,” Olga Covk of “Blossom Time,” Bran- don Hurst of ‘‘Montmartre,"" Mary Hoy and Maurice Holland of ‘Marjo- laine,” Tom Lewis of ‘fhe Blushing Bride,’ Olivette of Frank Fay “Fables,” Eugene O'Brien, Mae Mur- | ray, Sartuel Lanin’s Roseland Or- Chestra and others there was the Warner Brothers’ production of “School Days,’ the im of boyhood in the country in which twelve-year- old Wesley Barry is starred It was a full afternoon and an en- | foyable one for the hundreds who | came to help The Evening World Kiddie Club send ailing children to} the country next summer. The generosity of the stage’ people in contributing their services and) Property for the afternoon enabled | the Klub to add to its fund $627.62 from the sale of tickets and dona- tions. Frank, Fay was the announcer of the afternoon and his first job was to introduce Frank and Robert—take your cholce—Michel, paper-weight champion prize fighters of the world. Frank and Robert, who once ap- peared in the films with Enrico Ca- ruso, weigh forty pounds each, ring- side, and have been battling each other in return engagements since the day they were born, six years ago. Frank, but some people insist it was Robert, won yesterday by a knockout. Brandon Hurst, who plays the lead in ‘Montmartre,’ recited feelingly Kipling’s “The Grave of a Hundred Heads’ and sang a song of his own composition entitled “It Seems So Long.” Olga Cook sang “The Song of Love,” the hit of ‘Blossom Time,” in which she is another hit. Pretty Mary Hay, who is one of the reason for the popularity of “Marjolaine,"’ appeared with Maurice Holland and six comely members of the chorus of that production in the scene that is the background for the song “I Want You." The members of the chorus were Pauline Maxwell, Edith Slack, Doris Green, Grace Cul- bert, Edna Coigne and Joan Warner. ‘The number was conducted by Mi- lan Roder of ‘‘Marjolaine.”” Olivette of Frank Fay’s ‘Fables’ was all of the surprise dancer she was billed has all the kinks of soft-shoe dancer proved on them all. Mae Murray, all gold and pink and white as expected, did two graceful dances with Lee Tonton. movies, told how glad he was to b able to appear in behalf of the Kiddie | | Klub Fund And that was true of all the artists Many of them gave up their only of rést to appear inthe benefit, and several even gave up private engage- ments, a dinner when he stepped into the | theatre to get his mail and consented to be impressed into service. He did @ monologue which kept the house in an uproar of laughter, Dr. Royal $. Copeland, Commis- sioner of Health, told the audience that the Kiddie Klub's plan is a ‘most commendable one."* “Every year 6,000 or 7,000 children |in New York have «the whopping ‘cough, and good needed to prevent their tuberculosis,” he said, tinue to cough after they have really recovered, and on this account they are not allowed to go to the countty with well children, whose parents fear infection, Therefore the children most in need of fresh air and sunshine are denied them. Miss Schorer of the Kiddie Club ts trying to get enough money to send 500 to 600 of them to the country. I am interested in these children, If they can be restored to health it means that hundreds. who ight cogtract tuberculosix will be | saved." Dr. Copeland then paid a tribute to the actors, who, he pointed out, are always giving their time to the charities of New York. The'city, he said, owes them @ great debt of gra- titude. Miss Schorer told the audience that the Klub plans not only t take the sick children to the country but Plans also to keep them there until they have fully recovered. Abe Warner, who with his brother Harry of Warner Brothe.s, producers of “School Days,” who presented the film for the day to the fund and paid the expenses of I's presentation and the lollypops, was mot content thus with helpimg to make the benefit a success. He was seated behind a post in the last row of the orchestra when Frank Fay started the collection for the Kiddies. He’ dropped one bill in the hat which @ meniber of the “Fables” company passed and then when it was sug- gested that if somebody would con- tribute ten dollars Mr. Fay would sing a eong, it was Mr. Warner who made the contribution, only he doubled it. Then Mr. Fay sang his “Ha-ha” gong, accompanied by Clar- ence Gaskill, the composer of the “Fables.” — Lee and J. J. Shubert generously donated the use of the house for the day to the fund.
