WESTCHESTER TY ‘ADVOCATES MAK FIRST MOVETO.DY Bill Creating Commission Ex- pected to Be Introduced in Legislature To-Night. ALBANY, Feb. 6,—Westchester) County has come to the front very} rapidly in the demand for the big- gest sort of improvements, which in- clude a proposition to make of the lower part of the county a munici-| pality similar to that of Greater New) York and a chain of parks which will! add to the beauty and value of the; great estates of the wealthy residents of the county. ‘The new city is wanted, it is said, as a protection against possible en- croachments by Greater New York. ‘At any rate, this is the reason given im justification for the move by fol- lowers of William L. Ward, Republi-; can boss of Westchester and one of the strongest of the G. O. P. leaders in the State. A year ago a constitutional amend ment permitting Nassaad and West- ehester Counties to consolidate their Governments was adopted by the veters. But this is, apparently, not domed a strong enough barrier against the expansion of the Greaier City. A bill to create a commission of thirty-two citizens to plan 4 county government for Westchester ig expected to be introduced at to- night's session, the passage of which will set in motion the plan of the Re- Publicans and which will be made eftcctive at the extraordinary session to be called late in the summer or in the early fall. Tentative plans call for seven bor- oughs in the county with a city or more than 300,000 inhabitants, Boss; Ward |s the one leader in the State! closest to Gov. Miller and his bills| seem certain to be favorably received at the capital. A ill authorizing Westchester County to spend $10,000,000 for the park project, it is said, will soon be introduced in the Legislature. As- semblyman Mastick of Pleasantville already has introduced one authoriz- ing the State to turn over to the county the Mohansic Lake reserva- tion in Yorktown, which would be made part of the park project. It fs understood that some of the wealthy residents of Westchester are willing to put up the $10,000,000 for the park. (a COUPLE ROBS PAWNSHOP | THROUGH HOLE IN FLOOK Detectives and A.
