GLENN H. CURTISS WINS FLYING BOAT FIGHT. Federal Court of Appeals, Re- versing Lower Court, De- clares Him Its Inventor. The epinion reversed the action of Judge Chatfield, who, in the Federal Dis- triet Court, Brooklyn, dismissed a sult brought by Curtiss to challenge the right of Albert B. Janin of Rose- bank, Staten Island, to a hydro-air- ~ patent granted him Aug. 12, boat about the time Curtiss did and applied for a patent as early as 1911. Curtiss applied for a patent in the same year, Decision as to which in- ventor was entitled to the patent was reversed several times in the Pat- ent Offige. Janin took the case to the Court of Appeals of the District of Columbia in 1915, after the Com- missioner of Patents had ruled against him, and there won his case.
