THE EVENING WORLD, WEDNESDAY, D “\ | Simons, Edward Simons and Miss Su- ‘ IN THE REALM OF MUSIC )|*ihivs: Allied with the Pressmen’s Union fn 5 showering the couple with silver, were — The Beethoven Associatiun Gives Its Second Season's Concert in Aeolian Hall. By Frank H. Warren. ‘The concerts of the Becthoven As- sociation are now included among the high spots of the local music season ang last night's perfoumance in Aeo- Yan Hall, the second of the year, at~ tracted the, customary big audience. ‘While the, original purpose of the As- ®ociation was to present the less fa- millar of Beethoven's compositions, the Het of worth-while ones has been thoroughly culled, eo the Association on this occasion forsook the Master entirely for two of his successors. A Brahms quintette for clarinet and strings and a Schumann quintette for ‘piano and strings were the instru- mental pieces, performed by the Letz Quartette, with Georges Grisez, clart- net, as assisting artist in the first named work and with Ernest Schell- ing gt the plano in the second, ‘Those who dote on Beethoven were sure to fancy the Brahms quintette with its ingratiating passages for the clarinet, which Mr. Grisez played in| masterly style. Tho Schumann quin- tette, too, has its quota of romanti- cism. Miss May Peterson, soprano, to offset the instrumental pieces, sang 4 group of songs. If one ts looking for a musical evening of unalloyed delight the Beethoven Association may be guaranteed to supply it. Marie Mikova, Czechoslovokla her home, gave a piano recital in Town Hall in the evening. Mendelssobn, Heethoven, Chopin, Rubinstein and Smetana were the better known com- posers represented on her programme, while Hartmann and Gertrude Ross (Ride of the Cowboy”) were her choices from the moderns. Boris Lang, pianist, will give an in- timate recital at Steinway Hall this evening at 8.15. ‘To-morrow night in Town Hall the People’s Chorus of New York, which on numerous occasions has contribut- ed {ts services for others, will appear 4m & concert to raise funds for its own organization. May Peterson, 80- prano, and Anna Welch, harpist, will be thé soloists, and John C. Freund, ag guest of honor, will say a few appropriate words. The Advanced Unit of the Chorus will sing a few numbers, directed by L. Camillert, tts presiding genius. “Zaza.” with Miss Farrar in the title role, will open the fifth week of ‘the Metropolitan Opera season next Monday. “Boris Godunoff” is the at- traction for Mhuire evening, witb tle role.. ALSO THAT KI-MOIDS | (Tablets or Granuies) INDIGESTI Lu DANGER IN LACK OF RED CELLS Weakened Blood a Debility Gude’s Pepto-Mangan Over- comes. Blood becomes feeble when there is a lack of red blood cells. Fatigue always causes the blood to collect waste matter from all parts of the body. In normal health, after a good sleep and a good nourishing meal the blood throws off the poisons and is restored to its normal condition, But when sleep is neglected and the waste mat- ter from fatigue and overwork are not thrown off, the blood becomes weak and poisonous waste matter takes the place of red cells. Faces become pale, physical strength weakens, appetite is poor, and a phase of debility develops. Gude's Pepto-Mangan taken steadily for a while makes blood rich and red. The red cells carry life-giving oxygen to the entire system and drive off the poisonous waste matter, Druggists sell Gude's Pepto-Mangan in liquid or tablet form. Take only the genuine, |with the name “Gude's Pepto- Mangan” on the package.—-Adv SAFELY AB CLOTHES Woolen bootees, little petticoats and shirts, s sacques, flannel heer frocks and piquant bonnets—all are safely washed in the silky suds of Colgate & Co.’s new wash-bowl flake — nus. v. Fab is different from the ordinary soap flake because it dissolves completely. Bits of soap must be rubbed out of fine garments and it is this frequent rubbing which — wears out baby clo thes. But Fab is thin, and soluble even in hard or cold wa' ter. Fab contains just the right combination of oils — cocoanut oil and others. This per- fected formula is the result of over five years of Colgate study —plus the Colgate soap-making experience of one hundred and fifteen years. i COLGATE & CO.
