r “| (CIN THE REALM OF Music} y } i By Frank H. Warren. Yesterday was ideal for the peripa- totic musle reviewer. Twice, after- Boon and evening, the concert and re- eital patrol found its beat running from the Hippodrome to Aeolian Hall, te the Lexington Theatre, to Carnegie MAN, to Town Hall. Of the forty events planned for the week, Bunday @isposed of nine, and there was much Joy in the land. Efrem Zimballst's violin recital at Carnegie Hall not only brought this excellent fiddler back into public view, but also contrived a bearing for a} violin concerto by Ernest Schelling, an American pianist. It Is good music, and Zimballst, tho Russian, played \t with a hand of tho free epirit. In the evening at Carnegie, Mme. Johanna Gadski, whose dramatic s0- prano has been silent, publicly, for five years, once more burst into song in @ Wagner programme, assisted by the Philharmonic Orchestra, led by Mr. Stransky. Of these three—Wag- mer, Stransky, Gadski—the™ greatest Mast night for the audience was Gad- aki. Her reception by an overflowing audience was a whooping demonstra- ‘don that refused to be etilled until i@ had “out bravoed” itself. Mme. Gadski, appropriately enough, Responded with. Elizabeth's “Tann- bauser” aria “Greeting to the Hall,” etter which she was deluged with Sowers. She also sang arias from “Lohéngrin,” “Walkure” and “Tris- tan and Isolde” Mme Gadski has heen singing for some years, yet her yoice last night was better than one bt have expected it to be. Her istry, of course, is too solidly built give way in such a programme. Shifting to the Hippodrome, John (oCormack 1s discovered entertain- ‘mg a typical McCormack gathcring with @ well selected collection of) wongs. It is at the risk of losing a) ,000 prize that we state that’ Mr. MoCormack didn’t sing o single fal- \stto note; In fact, he never has sung ene. He himself has said it, and it’s freatly to his it. The popular enor was in better vocal trim than at bie previous appegrance and his @udience, that included Archbishop Curley of Baltimore, who comes from Mr, MoCormack's home town, Ath- tone in—let’s see—in Ireland, showed symptoms of extreme pleasure. Walter Damrosch agafn hung up the fiddle and the bow and the baton, took down his piano and his score of Wagh Walkure” and delivered the second of his instructive recitals on the “Ring” in Aeolian Hall. The audi- *moe overflowed right up to the legs of the piano, So keen is the country- ide to be counted in on these Wag- nerian elucidations that Mr. Dam- roach the other day was requested | of by ‘a lady in Birmingham, Ala. to} tK send along his score so she might In- terpret {t to her fellow town Wagner minus Damrosch Naber Galli without Curci. Other concerts included those by Abraham Haitowitech, a blind vi fet, whose dicap does not p DYED HER WRAP, SKIRT, SWEATER AND DRAPERIES Every “Diamond Dyes” package tells how to dye or tint any worn, faded garment or drapery a new rich golor that will not streak, spot, fade errun.
