The largest item in the budget, nearly 2% per cent. of the entire amount, is set aside for “debt ser- vice,” which is for payment of inter- est and redemptin of bonds. This totals $74,811,538, and is $3,120,399 less than last year, For direct State taxes the Albany Government has levied on New York City for $8,539,156, an increase of $ 526 over last year. New York's Largest Lee Says Nation Faces Upheaval Unless Labor Radicals Are Curbed. WASHINGTON, Oct. 14,—President W. G. Lee of the Brotherhood of Rail- road Trainmen to-day sounded a warn- ing to organized labor and to the pub- lic against the undermining effects of radicalism as expressed through un- authorized strikes, “The unauthorized strikes of the longshoremen and printers in New York show that the one big union idea daily is gaining ground in the ranks of or- ganized labor, whose leader: ing Bolshevism and I, W.
