Liss. {ERE are years when one's con- copt of grownup- ness consists of glori- ous enfranchisement from the despotism of those demure styles which dominated the growing up years of one's life, The girl of fifteen of sixteen has begun to develop that sense of style which Is to make her either a well dressed or a poor- ly dressed young lady, and the general inclin- ation ty to cast off the school girl type of dress in favor of the sort of gowning which makes her big sister of twenty - one appear smart. She usually hag excellent ideas, but | mey require the aid of }® wise and diplomatic mother to adapt them to the proper use or restrain them in a way to encourage a good | sense of style in her daughter. The greasy, coarse-pored complexion should never be treated with any kind of greasy cold creams, and it is sufficient for women who possess such complexions to apply a little pure toilet lanolin to crows’ feet éround the eyes, after cleansing the skin with hot water and tar, glycerine or sulphur soap at night. Cold water should be dashed on the face to harden the skin nd close the pores, after the hot lather has been gent- rubbed into the pores for several minutes, tringent lotions and washes, fhstead of cold cream, formulas for which will be shortly given, should be used to remove excess grease which collects during the day and also to cleanse the face @fter exposure to wind and dust. Diet plays a most important part {n correcting this condition of the skin, and the dark, mottled complexion, which constantly looks soiled and as if it needed a bath, can be corrected quicker through internal treat- ments than through local ones, | Heavy, greasy foods, fried ones, sweets and pastries should be carefully | evoided, and these foods ;ubstituted for fruits, cooked and raw, green Vegetables and salads, wit! copious water d-inking.
