But the men are not far behind. Since the announcement yesterday in The Evening World that for the first time in the history of the country, the Supreme Court would remain open on the evenings of April 8, 9 and 10, over 300 applications for citizenship blanks have been received at this office. The Evening World, !mmediately| after the inauguration of the Ameri- | canization Forum system on the east | side, found that many foreign-born inhabitants of the district had been kept from being citizens because of ignorance of the mode of procedure. | This paper then rendered every pos- sible aid, and helped many to become | citizens of the United States. Then it | became apparent that a large number were putting off the applications from | day to day simply because the court was open only during working hours. ‘The time spent in going to the court during the day necessitated the loss | of pay which they could ill afford, and also of payment for the same time lost by the citizens who accompanied them, Harry H. Beyer, and easily obtained their concurrence with the plan. Mr. Schneider conferred with the staff and found them willing to give up their evenings on the three dat mentioned, to take care of the hun- dreds of would-be citizens sponsored by The Evening World.
