The Evening World’s Kiddie Klub Korner Conducted by Eleanor Schorer Copyright, 1918, by The Press Publishing Oo, (The New York Bvening World.) {The Fairy in the Nutshel LJ (Toe ’ ‘ANY readers ask me various medical questions, which I am not per- mitted to answer, because I am not a physician. But ft is some- times a difficult matter to write health articles and answer health questions without at least bordering on the medical. Sirlce go many common disorders can not only be over- come but cured through hygienic methods of living— deep breathing, baths, wholesome foods in moderate amounts and physical exercises—my advice to readers who write me for tonics and cures is to follow some of the exercises, diet lists and other healthful modes of living outlined here before resorting to drugs end chemicals. “Prevention is better than cure,” and most diseases and physical defects can be prevented through intelligent care in the selection of foods and daily habits. Nature intended the stomach and bowels to prepare nutriment for all |. parts of he body. When we overeat and do not exercise, the efficiency of the organism as a working mechanism is greatly lowered and the whole body loses its power of resisting various diseases which may attack it. Pimples and blackheads, sallow skin and thin, falling or prematurely gray- ing hair are all indications of impaired digestion, nervousness, anaemia ‘-. and other disorders which arise through impure, impoverished and sluggish . blood. Sensible living—not drugs—will remove all of these disfigurements and bodily ailments. Five minutes allowed for deep breathing exercises, in fresh, stirring air, before breakfast, at luncheon and bed time, will work wonders in im- proving complexion, hair and general health. over her little flock of fairies in 8 very loving way and ajl of her fairy subjects loved her dearly.
