One way to help is to cooperate in the use of tele- phone service, which is of such vital importance to the Nation at this time. The following suggestions may be of value as illus- trating how you can ‘‘do your bit’’:— Take good care of your telephone instruments and cords, so that they will not become dam- aged. A broken instrument or a wet telephone cord may cause serious interruption to your serv- ice and require labor and costly materials to repair. Take good care of your telephone switchboard. With the present scarcity of all materials required in the telephone business, conservation of tele- phone equipment is essential. Avoid unnecessary calls and help keep the lines open for important message: Avoid especially ‘curiosity calls’’ in times of emer- gency—calls that may eeriously interfere with important service, There are three parties to each telepnone connection: you, the operator and the party called. The cooper- ation of all three is necessary at the present time to assure high grade service for commercial use and for the National Defense.
