It was begin- ning to look as though the Public Service Commission would string the matter along all winter when District Attorney Lewis entered the situation with his letter in which he called the attention of the Public Service Com- mission that violation of orders of that body constitutes a misdemeanor and offered his co-operation as a prosecutor, Chairman Straus received the letter on his arrival at his office yesterday morning at 10.45 o'clock and turned It over to Commissioner Travis Whit- ney, who issued a perfunctory state- ment concerning it. A little later somebody connected with the Public Service Commission discovered that the District Attorney's letter was loaded. A meeting of the entire com- mission was called. At the conclusion of the meeting Chairman Straus an- nounced that the commission would co-operate with the District Attorney and send him a lot of evidence a, st the B. R. T.
