Doubt but That My Club Wo Win the Pennant,” Says New Yo Manager. The Meet at Frisco. To-Day Is Considered the Biggest Ever Held in This Country. Stars From All Over the United States Are Com- peting There and Many Records May Fall By GEORGE H. ROBERTSON. ‘ HERE have been many requests for the best temporary method of I Tepairing blowouts while on the road, A good quick repair of a burst casing can be made by using an inside and outside blowout patch. A new inner tube should never be inserted in a burst casing without first taking some precautions to close the hole or rent both from inside and outside, or the tube will blow through @ the weakest epot of the shoe be- fore it has been in use for any length of time. The inner patch is composed of several layers of fric- tioned fabric (fabric impregnated with rubber eompound), and the larger sizes are provided with hooks which engage the rim if @ clincher type is used. It is from six to eight inches long for small tires and ten to twelve inches long for the larger sizes. The strength of fabric used also varies with the size of the tire the patch is made for. This is placed GEORGE ROBERTSON in the casing in such a way that the rent comes at a point approximately at the centre before the inner tubo is inserted. After the casing is replaced and inner tube partially inflated, the outer shoe is laced tightly in place around tire and wheel rim, and then inflation of the tire {s completed. A repair made in thie manner {s reliable enough, as the tire remains in service for some time without attention, though the temporary patches should be replaced by a permanent repair at the earliest opportunity. ANSWERS TO LETTERS. ——_————————— Antomobile Editor I have a 1913 Ford touring car, and y John J. McGraw, Manager of the Giants. HE National League has dowble-headed us to degth this season, T where we have gone on the last Western trip of the club they hung double-headers on my ball team, and not infrequently the re has been made to compete with the Federal League y traction. In my opinion, this ts bad business, 3 We opened in St. Louts on a Sunday, for 4: after jumping from Ghicago, and they fed us on double-header there, because the Feds had two scheduled, and the National League folks were iy the outlaws would outdraw the Cardinals.
