~ TWO BIG LINERS SAIL __ WITH FEW PASSENGERS BUT HEAVILY LADEN Campania fy Liverpool Car- ries British Officers — La France Has More Reservists. ‘The Cunard liner Campania ana| La France of the French line sailed reapectively for Liverpool and Havre to-day with light cabins and heavy holds. Only 100 passengers in cabin and steerage went on the Campania and 96 were in the three cl ot the French boat. Among the Campania’s passengers were Capt. R. E. James and Licut. H. B. Carter of the English army, who @ame from Tokio, where they had een stationed for two years, and are their way to rejoin their regiments the field. Both are “army lin- gists” of a special service, their mia- gen being to acquaint themselvas tepth oo many languages as they can aster. Between them they speak every language of Europe and many of the dialects of India and the Far Mast. Lord William Percy, an officer in he Grenadier Guards, was another Campania passenger. He had spent many months in Alaska, part of which time he was with the revenue e@etter Bear in several adventures with the toe packs. Most of the fifty steerage passen- @ere aboard La France were belated reservists bound for the battlefield. Oberies and Frank Audibert, sons of @ wealthy French silk manufacturer, wore in the first cabin.
