The curtain has dropped on football for 1911, and although most of the big contests were close, still the season has been an unsatisfactory one from a spectator’s standpoint, as there has not been enough rush- ing of the ball and tackling, It looks as though the new style game has had a suffictent trial, and there 1s such a clamor for changes in the rules, so as to cause more scoring by touchdowns, vhat the rules committee will be bound to make over the code. The Penn-Cornell game at Philadelphia and the Brown-Carlisle game at Providence were the chief Thanksgiving Day battles. The Philly collegians defeated the up-Staters largely through thelr superior attack by a score of 21 to while the Indians defeated the Brunotans by Left Halfback Thorpe’ kicking, the score being 12 to 6.
