The three firms announced thelr sus- pensions in November, and since that time the Board of Governors of the Consolidated Exchange has been inves- tigating them. President “Randolph would not explain the expulsions other than that the Board of Governors at & Meeting last night deemed It wise to ex- pel the three firms because they had @ommitted “acts detrimental to the 0d and welfare of the Exchange.” M, R, Dyett Is a member of the firm of Dyett @ Hotching, of No, @ Broad- way, F. 8, Colton & Co, have offices at No, 2 State etreat, Boston, their New York office being a branch of that, harles KE. The Evening Worl List This Year and Has Made Are Sein tore a 2 rangements to Plenty to Eat. Twelve hundred families with whom the fates have not dealt kindly during the year that Is nearly done may even have at Christmas time such a board as only the homes of the prosperous can afford. | In keeping with tts long established custom, The Evening World proposes to do what it can to make the season bright for the most deserving people it can find, and no better way could be Ghosen than providing them with some- thing for the “inner man.” When all ts well within, all without wears a cheer- fer aspect, and that is the motive which Prompts the paper in thie particular good doing, In years past The Evening World has provided each Christmas 1,000 din- ners , but this season it has decided to Increase the number by two hundred. | There are that.many deserving families | in his ‘great city which can be reached. How many more that pride keeps from showing their empty cup- boards there is no way of telling, but It {s for them that The Evening World would like to do something. Seorecy Is Pledged, No one may know who it is that re- celves @ dinner from The Evening World except those who have the task of preparing and delivering them tn chatge. No man's neighbors may hold him up to scorn or look down upon him 4% an object of charity through his acceptance of one of these dinners, It Is the desire of The Evening World to do this without ostentation, and ar- rangements have been made which In- gure absolute secrecy og far ag the identity of rectpients Is concerned. ‘The Slegel-Cooper Company and Bloom- dale Brothers are preparing the din- nera, and’ deliveries will be made in the ns of those firms fust as if the ola were regular store purchases. is plan has been followed before, and success has drawn from charitable people the highest commendations, The} self-respect of those who receive the dinners is preserved. and that ts the prime test of true charity What Beokets Contain, Xmas diner baskets which ning World {s going to give away are not for show, and an exam- {nation of thelr contents proves that they have been planned along strictly utilitarian fines. . . told, they contain fourteen articles—one 1-pound chieken, | two packages of soda biscult, a loaf of bread, one quart of potatoes, one quart of onions, one can of string beans, one can of baked beans, a plum pudding, one pound of cakes, half a pound of candy. & package of yelatine, a quarter of a pound of coffee and a jar of cheese.
