Man Was in Love with Married Woman and He Became Des- perate When She Refused to Encourage Him. Leon Miller, @ love-crazed mechanto, of No. 41 West Forty-second streat, Wishes to-day that he hadn't fired three Shots at pretty Mrs. Margaret Lan ‘wife of Joseph Lang, who keeps a del eatessen store at No. 582 Eleventh ave- fue, because aw large crowd of people who witnessed the assault wer’ so in- dignant that they attacked Miller and almost beat him into unconsciousness Defore a policeman rescued him. Miller says that he wants to die if Mrs. Lang will not love him, but he doesn't want to be Kicked to death. It was while Mrs. Lang’s husband was et the lodge last night that Miller went to the store and began making love to Mrs,"Lang. It wasn't his first per- formance by any means, Mrs. Lang re- pulsed him, as usual, but Miller insisted, ‘until she put him out of the store. It ‘Was then that he stood on the sidewalk and sent three bullets at her through the wingew. None of the shots took effect, but one came very near hitting Mrs. Lang's little daughter. In the West Side Court to-day Mra. Lang told her story to an Evening ‘World reporter, She saia: “Leon Miller was a friend of my hus- band.
