As was exclusively told in yesterday's Evening World, the telegraph company yesterday suddenly shut off the race- track news to the Beattie, Hannigan, McCormick and Steinmets syndicates, thus placing in @ state of temporary paralysis more than @ hundred small rooms which were dependent upon the syndicates for their information, ‘The ayndicates refused point blank to come to terms with the Western Union Company and at once made ar- rangements to get thelr information by leased long-distance telephone wires from Chicago. ‘As the information must primarily come from the Western Union, the telo- graph company will continue to cut off the source of supply as often as it {s able to trace it. trouble was precipitated 0s iusitealt ofa demand from the West= em Union upon the syndicates thet they not only pay $5 per day for thelr information, but also pay the same rate for every small room which received information from the syndi- cates. ‘The telexraph company also de- manded the privilege of placing in- spectors in the headquarters of the syndicates for the purpose of ascer- taining just what the syndicates were doing.
