John T. McCaN, Tammany leader In the Board of Aldermen, announced thin afternoon that a second attempt would be made to securea franchise for the New York, Westchester and Boston Railway Company. The Mayor having vetoed the ordin- ance passed by the Board of Aldermen to give the company a franchise, it was decided to-day to so amend the original measure as to meet with the Mayor's objections. In Vetolng the ordinance Mayor Mc- Ciellan explained that !t wax detri- mental to the city's interests to grant the franchise, because lt made no pro- vision under which the company would bear any part of the expenses which would be incurred by the construction of bridges. Other parts of the measure were also objected to by the Mayor. “All this will be changed,” said Alder- man McCall. “When the ordinance is put into shape it will first be offered to the Board of Estimate and Anportion- ment, when the proper compensation to the city will ba fixed.
