HIGHWAYMEN ROB AND BEAT GIRL Hold Up Miss Alice Osterman in the Bronx and When She Re- sists Repeatedly Strike Her in the Face. SEIZE HER VALUABLES AND MAKE THEIR ESCAPE. Only One of a Series of Recent. Outrages in That Section and Residents Talk of Forming a Vigilance Committee. Miss Alice Osterman, of No. 1921 Sec- ond avenue, is the Igtest victim of the thugs and highway robbers who havo been holding Harlem and the Bronx tn - reign of terror for several woeks past. Half strangled, cruelly beaten, robbed of her purse and fur coat, Miss Oster- man was left unconscious by two brutal highwaymen who attacked her on Union avenue, near Westchester avenue, in the Bronx. She was on her way. to visit a friend in Untonport and had left a northbound trolley car just before the attack.
