ACK MUNROE, who engages Tom Sharkey in fistic combat jn Phila- delphia Feb. 27, is learning some new. tricks of the pugilistic trade _ these days. He hopes to have them down fine when he faces the ex- sailor. Kid McCoy now has the miner in hand at Johnson’s roadhouse, on Jerome avenue. He began on him yesterday with a variety of “cork- screws,” shifts, feints and shadow fighting, of which only the clever Kid is master. « The miner took to the tricks naturally, and at the end of.a lively ses- sion was dancing in and out like the cleverest of them. McCoy was greatly impressed by Munroe’s aptitude, and expressed the belief that he will be an interesting picture in the ring with the rugged ex-sailor, The miner is strong as an ox and has “the punch.” He al:o possesses a peculiar variety of cleverness that is useful if not as fancy as it might te. McCoy, however, says that within a couple of weeks his boking will be polished up to suit the most exacting critic. The daily session with McCoy is only a part of the training of the man from Butte. Road work and gymnasium exercise are followed religiously, | so that already he is in rare shape. LAWRENCE A.C. ¥.
