Bvening World, New York: Have engageil Ciasle Loftus for 98,000 for the week of Aug. 2. , J. J. MURDOCK. Cecilia Loftus is to return to vaude- wille for one week or.ly. When she went ‘to London Inst as a leading woman and @ Dundas Slater, director of the Al- hambra Music Hall, sought to enforce @n old contract, she declared that she thad permanently abandoned vaudeville for the dramatic stage, in earnest of which intention she changed her bap- tlemal name from Cissie to Cecilia. Mise Loftus has not determined to @bandon the dramatic stage, but com- mencing Aug. 2 she will give fourteen performances on the roof of the Masonic + @emple, Chicago, She is moved to this determination by the offer of $3,000 for the week, promised by Manager John % Murdock, for the greatest attraction to be had. “Murdock has placed in vaudeville “The @irl_with the Auburn Hair," Jessie Bartlett Davis, Camile D'Arville, Eu- gene Cowles, W. A. MacConnell and Other well known stars and has been Sey fortunate in the manage. ent of high-priced attractions. These usually eturted on his roof theatre the summer. Lest season he advertised that he Would give $2,000 for an ad: that would be worth that price for one week. Binding that he could secure the Four Gohans for an additional thousand, he valsed the price and made a profit at that. This season he repeated his 33,00 Offer, but for a while it looked as though there would be no satisfactory response. *Finally he got in communication with diss Loftus and announcement {s made T @f the completion of the arrangement. Miss Loftus is at the Plaza Hotel in this city. BELLEVUE PATIENT MAKES HIS ESCAPE Gives Employees of the Hospital a Fine Chase Before He Is Recaptured.
