Myles McDonald has been freed from wthe last legal restraint that followed the shooting affray In the Onawa Cate, @t Park avenue and One Hundred and Mwenty-Afth street, in December, 1900, when George Price was killed and Mhomas Kennedy and Bdward Courtney were injured. Long ago a jury declared him innocent of Price's murder and Judge Newburger has dismissed the charge against him of shooting Court- ey. The application for the dismissal Grought out the fact that the once famous New York gambler is a member of the Boston uk Exchange and greatly respected by the business men of the Hub. According to his lawyer he Is living a new life and is trying to @orget the days he spent in New York. The shooting in the Onawa Cafe was the end of a feud between McDonald and Kennedy. Both were among the Yest-known gamblers in the city, and the latter was a Tammany leader, ‘The trial and acquittal of McDonald at- tracted wide attention. McDonald came from the West thir- teen years ago. He was then a respect- able business man. As many other men do, he played a little poker and was lucky. He gradually drifted into the life of a gambler and got rich. It was even Ahen rumored that in the West he was considered a “bad man.” But whatever his life In the world might have been, he was devoted to his ome on City Island. Ils wife and ehildten were sacred to him, and when Kennedy introduced to Mrs. McDonald as his wife a woman to whom he was not married McDonald was fifrious. This was the start of the feud that @nded in the bloody fight.
