Pelfkan, a diamond broker, liv- ing at No, 51 West One Hundred and Eleventh street, brought the a of the soclety to the attention of the Mag- {strate in the Harlem Court to-day. Agent Frank Barclay, of the Gerry Soctety, had singled his ten-year-old boy, Irving Pelikan, and a companion, Mar- tin Langdon, of No, 2% West One Hundred and Eleventh street. in the Audience at-the New Star Thatre and ed them from whom they purchased ir admission tickets. "They pointed out George Walker In the ticket office, and he was arrested and with the boys taken to the Enst One Hundred and Fourth street station. There Walker was locked up and the boys were taken to the Gerry Soclety’s prison, at Fourth avenue and Twenty- third street. Could Not Get Boy. Mr. Pelikan heard of the arrest of his fon, and when he was refused admit- tance to even see him he went to Dr. C. H, Parkhurst’s home and secured a let- ter in which the reformer sald that un- der the circumstances he believed the society should permit Mr. Pelikan to see his son. The officers of the society laughed at ) Pemr, Pelikan and Dr, Parkhurst's letter, Mr. Pelikan explained that ft was the first time his boy had been away from home over night, and, as he was not strong, the fright might have « sertous Ay effect on him, The agents then laughed again, and threatened to put the father out on the street. The two b were taken to court to- day as witnesses. They were prisoners, however. ‘These matters were brought to the attention of the Court in the considera~ tion of the charge against Walker, Mr, Pelikan had retained counsel, and the Gerry Society was condemned not only, by Mr, Pelikan but by all except the) 4 wociety’s agent.
