v | BOYS AID SICK BY SELLING LEMONADE. sTMt Psu FOUR BROOKLYN L Although the cold weather has kept lemonade stands from the popularl they will enjoy later in the summe' yet the bright-faced quartet of boys whose photographs are here reproduced raised §5 a few days ago by a lemonade stand for The Evening World Sick Babies’ Fund, The four boys are Bennie and Samuel Sokolow and Ed- mund and Nathan Hirsch. These are the first photographs which the Fund's little friends haye sent in this season and one of the first lemon- ade stands which have been held. It 4s well to mention again that The Evening World Sick Babies’ Fund ad- vises children to ask no contributions except from persons whom they know; and it warns contributors against giv- ing money for the Fund to collectors with whom they are not acquainted. This warning especially applies to children who solicit money for the Fund indiscriminately in the street. It need not, however, cover cases where chil- dren hold stands or sales of any sort on the pavement before thelr own homes and under the supervision of their parents. The hot weather has been mercifully delayed, but when it arrives it will ar- rive in force, and the chief sufferers will be the thousands of helpless babies whose summer must be passed amid unsanitary surroundings in the hot, stuffy tenement districts. To save these precious little lives the Fund's physicians work night and day all summer. In order to increase the scope of this life-saving work contribu- tions are asked. The money, whose loss you will scarcely miss, may mean all the differ- ACTORS PLAN CLUB TO RIVAL LAMBS, Exclusiveness of Latter Or- ganization May Lead to Formation of Green-Room Club for Actors Only. A coffee that will nourish and fur- nish all the food required to rear a baby is evidently easy food for an adult to digest, and is especially ap- plicable where ordinary coffee does hot agree, | The wife of a Congregational minis- ter gives anexperience: ‘“Itis rather curious the manner in which I came | to adopt Postum for my baby. My |} husband used to be troubled greatly with bilicus headaches and extreme nervousness. This was about five years ago. We concluded that coffee and tea were the cause of his trou- bles, and so gave Postum Food Cof- fee a trial. At first we did not like it because it was not bolled long enough and seemed weak and taste- less, but after preparing it properly, and that is easy, we became very fond of it, and now can honestly say we prefer it to any coffee or tea, | “The old headaches and nervous- ness have disappeared and we both enjoy very muen better health, | “When one of our children was a/ year old he would not drink milk, so we tried him on Postum Coffee, and from the first he liked it and it agreed with him perfectly, so Pos- tum has been his drink now for over four years. “About ten months ago a baby boy. came to our house. I was, of course, anxious to have good nourishment for him and so drank from five to eight cups of Postum during the day. This with a little Grape-Nuts Food each day was all the nourishment I took, and although the baby weighed only five pounds at birth he weighed twelve and one-half pounds at three months and at four months fifteen pounds, Now he weighs twenty- three pounds, “About three weeks ago the little fellow suddenly weaned himself, much to our surprise, I tried him on cow's milk, but he would mot have it, I then tried a certain baby food, then another, but he would have neither, I felt very anxious about him, but remembering experimenting with an- other boy with Postam, I gave him some, Which he drank with the great- est relish, It agreed with him per- fectly, so he lived on it for one week, Since then he has learned to eat a little other food, but he prefers Pos- tum Coffee to anything else, and looks perfectly delighted when he sees me coming with it, I sald the other morning, ‘I wish the Postum Company could see baby drink their coffee, it would certainly please rees with him so pe: shall continue to ha I don’t like to have my name printed, but you cap say a tor’ ” Name Saturday Is the Last Day of sa rR . oe 3 _ me " bs THE WORLD: FRIDAY EVENING, JUNE 27, 1902.
