Neighbors Knew Nothing of Affair Until She Crawled Out on Piazza After Her As- sailants Had Departed. Attacked in her home at Fifty- fourth street and Ninth avenue, Brooklyn, and beaten terribly by three’ men who obtained admittance in the guise of Board of Health In- spectors, Mrs. Anna M. Thormann is in a serious condition at the Norwe- gian Hospital. She is barely conscious and has been unable to give a full account of how she was hurt. From what the police and hospital authorities have learned it is sup- posed that the three men posing as from the Board of Health were sneak thieves, Heard Cries for Hely Mrs. Tho.mann's nelghbors cre startled shortly after noon by seein, her crawl out on her piazza and heatérx feeble cries for help. Policeman John Murphy, of the Brooklyn Bridge police, was in his home across the street and ‘an to Mrs, Thormann’s aid. Murphy tried to learn what the trou- dle was, but had great difficulty until an ambulance surgeon revived Mrs. | Phormann for a few moments. Plecing out Mrs. Thormann’s story, she police believe that about 10.3) o'clock this morning three men called at the ( house, Mr. Thormann, an employee of the Armour packing-house, at South Sixth ind Berry streets, was at work; the two young sons were away and Mrs, Thor- mann's daughter, Anna, was at echool. ‘The three men said that they had come to investigate a complaint that the ‘Thormanns were keeping chickens’ in the house, Beaten with Iron She denied it, but they insisted on making a tour of the house, One of the men asked that she bring pen and ink that she might make written denial. Reported Now that Next Week a New Date Will Be Set for the Coronation—Lord Lister Be- lieves Him Out of Danger. LONDON, June 27.—Leading medical experts now say the crisis in the King’s illness may be regarded as at an end. They believe that all danger of any septic process has passed, A member of the Government explains that the royal surgeons avoided mention of temperature in the earlier bulletins lest faulty deductions should be made. The operating table, bandages and other appliances connected with them were removed from the palace this afternoon. . After the issue of to-day’s bulletin Lord Mareus Beresford asked Lord Lister how the King was progressing. Lord Lister re- plied: “His Majesty is pratically out of danger.” The King reads and conyerses continually with the Queen and the Prince and Princess of Wales. All that the doctors insist upon is that he shall not be worried by matters regarding careful weigh- ing. The Government officials expect, possibly within a week, to fix the approximate date of the coronation, which will probably occur early in the autumn. Further proof of the King’s improvement is found in the fact that Admiral Prince Henry of Prussia leaves London to-morrow for Germany. ; Electric fans are being utilized to keep the King’s apartment at a suitable temperature, the heat in London being oppressive. TO-DAY’S BULLETINS. LONDON, BUCKINGHAM PALACE, June 27, 6.15 P. M. (London Time).--‘‘The King has maintained the satisfactory condition described in the lest bulletin, His Majesty shows no disquieting symptoms, (Signed) “LISTER, TREVES, SMITH, LAKING, BARLOW,” LONDON, Buckingham Paiace, June 27,2 P. M. (London time).—His Majesty passed a comfortable morn- ing. All his symptoms to-day are so far satisfactory. His temperature remains normal. No other than important fluctuaions in His Majesty’s temperature will be recorded in the bulletins issued. (Signed), TREVES, LAKING, BARLOW. LONDON, Buckingham Palace, June 27, 10,30 A, M. (London time),—His Majesty had a fair night and has had some natural sleep. His appetite is improving and his wound is much more comfortable, On the whole tle the King’s condition is attended with less anxiety.
