THE WORLD: WEDNESDAY EVENING, WOKE “4, 1902, PHYSICIAN SHOOTS JEALOUS HUSBAND WHO FORCED WAY INTO HIS APARTMENTS. Dr. Cronk Wounds Ar- lington in a Struggle Over the Sick Bed of Intruder’s Son. Thinking he would find his wife !n the apartment of Dr. Harrison Tay- lor Cronk, at No. 205 West Eleventh Frederick Arlington forced the physician's bed- street, his way into room at 3 o'clock this morning. He was shot through the thigh for his intrusion, Arlington is at St, Vincent's Hos- pital in a precarious condition The house in which the shooting occurred is conducted as a boarding- house by Mrs. Arlington. It is a substantial three-story brick struc- ture in the old English style, so com- mon in Greenwich Village. Dr. Cronk’s father resided in the house while he lived and the pres- ent Dr. Cronk has always lived there. ‘A year ago Mrs. Arlington succeed- ed the former boarding-house mis- tress. Operated on Her Son, Dr. Cronk had his office and sleep- ing room on tho first floor. Yester- day afternoon, assisted by several surgeons from St, Vincent’s Hospital, he performed a delicate operation upon the throat of eleven-year-old Frederick Arlington. He had the boy brought down to his room to sleep veside him on a cot that he could be properly looked after during the night. Dr. Cronk and the lad were sleeping soundly when Arlington reached home at clock this morning, V he coneelved the idea that his wife was in Dr. Cronk’s apartment he has not ex- plained.
