. THE WORLD: MONDAY EVENING, APRIL 22, 1901. NEW YORK’S PRETTY | fhe Yrnomafe Snr HOKUS GIRLS AT HOME. The Dainty Catherine or Dashing Divinities of the Johnnies as They Look and Act When Not Fasci- nating the Fellows Who Fill the Front Rows. King, of The Evening World, En- joys an In- teresting Evening | with Pretty {| A Purchase y Three Hundred Thousand Yards of Imported and American SILKS Probably the Most Important Transaction That has Ewer Occurred tn the Trade THs morning we announce the greatest Silk occasion ever exploited by this store; and, so far as we know, the largest and best offering of new and perfect silks ever made under-price. The taking of such a stupendous quantity made prices on fancy silks such as have never been heard of before, and procured new silks of such staple character as have perhaps never before been sold under-price, to sell at very positive reductions, Many of the same silks were selling at full prices in our regular stock on Saturday; and will continue to be sold in all good stores at regular prices; for no store can be without them and have a complete stock. This is illustrated by the fact that a large part of the purchase consists of Plain Black Taffeta and Plain White Taffeta which never lose their value all year ‘round—always staple, <lways wanted by every woman. There are over seventy-five different qualities in the sale, in some of which there are over a hundred variations of color or design. The scope of the sale is suggested by this word of the various kinds of silks included: Blick Tatfetas, White Ta 3, Printed Foulatds, Fancy Tatfetas, Printed Liberty Satins, Japanese Silks and Plain Black Silks such os Peay , Duchess Surah, Faille, Pare Dye Taffetas. The extraordinary offering of Black and White Taffetas, in such immense quantities and wide varicties, makes this sale unique and unprecedented. The extraordinary prices on the Fancy Silks, which are all new this season, and highly desirable goods, are almost startling, even after the offerings made here during the past month or two—for never before have varicties, qualities and patterns been so choice and_ satisfying as in to-day’s unparalleled offering. The Sate occupies the entire Main Aisie from Broadway to Fourth avenue, and all the Rotunda. Then another silk store occupies the Under- price Store, in the Basement. It is an occasion that interests every woman within a day's journey of New York, and we have provided generous space to make comfortable selling for the thousands that will come to-day, and the days following.
