The man sald that he had neard groaning and moaning cries coming from the room. He knocked on the door but received no answer.‘ He knocked again, but was unable to get any re- sponse. The cries still continued, ro the man peered over the transom. He saw a young woman lying on the bed, a bottle in her hand and moaning piteously. He broke open the door and rushed Into the’ room. He saw that the young woman was unconscious and that her lips were badly burned.
