As it was, the best was done that could have been done, and it is hoped that the disappointed little one: will accept the explanation and harbor no ill feeling towards the editor who had charge of the Fund. If he could have done it he would have had the ploture of every helper of the Fund in the paper. Necessarily in the first effort to keep up with the inflow of photographs and tintypes some letters failed to get into print, although acknowledgement of their receipt with inclosures was made the day after they reached the office. The letters when found were given piace in the columns, and that.which is here iven is probably the lust of those de- fayed epistles: To the Editor, A fair was held on Mra, ef’s lawn, at 221 South Mount Vernon, Wednesday, July 21, Fie children, ‘ranging in’ ‘ages from . five to eleven years, held the fair. and Made $23.02 for the Sick Bables’ Mund.
