It is not buerile enough for that. “Kismet; or, Two Tangled Turks’? note the exuberance of the sub-title—is the work of Richard F, Carroll, as to Ammonia in the Sammer Time. Ammonia, always useful to the house- keeper, has espectal advantages in the summer time by Its power of removing lemon stains. A housekeeper who has learned this simple household fact by experience suggests that a little pam- phiet be prepared to instruct all house- keepers in the dtfferent methods of re- moving stains. Many simple means are not widely known, For removing the stains of strawberries and other fruits from damask hci water ts often sufi- cient. Deep stains may be removed by a solution of chloride of lime, White stains from hot dishes upon @ polished table are removed by rubbing the spot with spirits of Pretty The accompanying cut shows an ad- boil, then turn in stone jar and put in cool place until next day.’ Next day. drain off syrup and put in kettle, bringing again to a boil, and then pour back over peaches in stone jar. Put in the frult the last time, and then put in Blass jars for keeping. This may appear considerable trom ble, but 1s considered a most excellent recipe.
