The mails bring, besides, many con- tributions, large and small, to the Bick Babies’ Fund, another class of letters, written in cramped or @oarse characters, full of bad gram- mar and miserable spelling, but couched in the homely but eloquent language of gratefulness for the good done by the gentle readers who have made the Sick Babies’ Fund a power and “The Evening World” Corps of Free Physicians a possibility year after year, No branch of this splendid charity ts #0 potent for good as that of the sea- side outings, with the sail on the rivers, bays, the ocean and other waters of this locality; the day in the bracing sea air; the play spell and rest spell in the groves and flelds and on the hillsides. Bick bables have come home from them well, and wan, worn-out, overworked and overheated mothers have returned ‘with roses in their cheeks, cherries on their lips, bright light in their eyes and strength ‘in their rested limbe Here is a werd from one gratified ‘woman: To the Editor: Accepting the kind invitation of one of the visiting physicians of the Sick Babies’ Fund, I took my little ones on Doard the batge to go td Sylvan Beach, nd was more than surprise® at tac wenial manner every mother and / children were received. My baby, w.u had been sick when I went on board, grew very ill, and once I feared he would Rot survive. But thanks to the physi- chang and kind lady matrona on Board, who did all they couid to relieve my. baby and make me comfortable, he soon rallied a he inhaled the pure fresh air. Too much cannot be said in praise of those erecd excursions and every one connects with the management of them, as every mother and her children are made to feel as though they are especial guests of the day, and tf only some of the wealthy ladies and gentle- men of this city could have seen the Bi, of the children when they landed at ylvan Beach, and their scramble for wild flowers and other enjoyments, they ‘would not hesitate for a moment to con- pate generously to the Sick Babies’ ind of the most charitsble paper ever Drinted—"The Evening Wo.'d.” Very gratefully yours, Mre. HAGNEY, The next of the Sick Babies’ outin will start from the fvot of West Klev- enth street at 8 and the foot of East Third street at 9 o'clock Saturday morn- ing, and will §° down the river, acro: the bay and down the Arthur Kilis to Tom Crawford's Sylvan Beach, one of the prettiest places near New York, where there will be free bathing, free swinging, free boating and freedom to loll on the grass in the shade of the grand buckey: elms and maples, and where the weakfish just tumble over each other in their eagerness to be ‘aught. There will be plenty to eat on board the barge, an ocean of pure milk for the little uests and ice-cream enough for all—at the really very rea- sonable price of nothing at all. There will be another outing to Rari- tan Beach Tuesday.
