Juding from your letter, you are evidently ignorant of navy restrictions and regulations governing the upholding of morality and respect in the service. You seem to jump to the conclusion that in every case, or, as you say, nine out of 10, where a woman has been jilted and disreputed, 4 sailor is to blame. This accusation, my dear friend, took me by great surprise as well as many other men of the navy. I was always under the impression that the general public gave their first line of defense more consideration and credit than to make such false accusations against the material that go to make it up.
