Many months ago, parties interested in the constitution —and low wages — got Miss ner to bring suit to knock out the minimum wage law for women. Miss Gainer was assured that the constitution would stand by her desire to work for what wages she pleased, and she felt real hurt by the California statute. Recently Miss Gainier got a good job at Los Angeles and her associates began pointing the fin- ger of contumely at her as the instrument for the cutting of women’s wages. So she directed her attorneys to drop that suit. They wouldn’t. Then she dismissed her attorneys. They wouldn't be dismissed, being still red hot for Miss Gainer’s con- stitutional rights, whether she wanted them or not. . The California supreme court should have passed on the minimum wage law by January 7, but, at this writing, is wrest- ling with the question as to whether Miss Gainer can change attorneys and dismiss her suit.
