Fer Your, vy Mail 6600 Tom Dobson at It Again (Editorial) 6 Li DOBSON, retiring county commissioner, is at it again Dobson is striy ig mightily to have a hand in nam- ng the successor to Prosecutor Malcolm Douglas, who becomes a superior judge on January 12 The appointment is up to the board of commission- ers. Any two of the three members can make it. Dobson and Commissioner Gaines, who always have played hand-in-hand, announced to friends today that they have agreed on a man for the place. They will now try to get Prosecutor Douglas to resign so that the appointment can be made William Brown, commissioner-elect, takes issue with Dobson on many things. Among them is a man for the prosecutor's job. Brown's friends, just a day or two ago, charged that Dobson is rushing thru purchases of machinery which will have to be paid for out of the 1925 budget money that should rightfully be administered by the new commissioner *¢«-e w ND now Dobson is trying to make political ap- pointments that rightfully belong to his suc- or, he new prosecutor will have to work with the new board of commissioners and handle their business for the next two years. In order that this business may be efficiently handled, he will have to work in har- mony with the board. The only way to attain this harmony and co-oper- ation is to allow Douglas’ successor to be named by the new board of commissioners. And the only way to prevent the politicians from turning ‘the trick they plan is for Prosecutor Douglas to stay on the job until the new board comes into office. The Star urges him to do this. O retiring politician should be permitted to award a political plum—as payment for a political debt or for any other reason—just us he is about to step out of office and will no longer be accountable to the public for his acts And if Chai n Gaines insists on going thru with this program with Dobson, he should be made to feel t he is opposing the wishes of a public that wants to see harmony restored in county affairs.
