Absolutely no profit has been made on new books, due to the present high express and jfreight rates and the cost of selling. The profit we do make is realized from the sale of stationery, pens and novelties.” The bookstore is an A. 8. U. W. co-operative business, owned by the students, and run almost entirely With student help. The store has taken in $140,000 since the first of the year. MINE STRIKERS GIVEN RELIEF Satisfactory results in the relief work for striking coal miners and thelr families was reported Saturday by William Short, president of the Washington State Federation of Labor, who has just returned from a trip to Olympia, Centralia, Aberdeen and other towns. “Dances and entertainments are being given to raise funds for the relief work,” Short said. “Every- where we have met ‘the greatest re sponse to this appeul’”" There are 2,300 coal miners on strike.
