TRACY SAN FRANCISOO, Sept 21 Seven major witnesses wore ordered wummoned today by District Attarney Mathew Brady to appear tomorrow afternoon at the preliminary bearing of Roscoe Arbuckle, charged with the murder of Virginia Rappe as a result of Arbuckle’s Labor day “party” here. who swore to the murder charge against Arbuckle; Dr, Shelby Strange, police autopay surgeon; Dr, William Ophula, who performed an unofficial autopsy on Miss Kappe's body: Grace Halston, nurse; Al Semnacher, Ira Fortiouls and Lowell Sherman, guests at Arbuckie’s party. Lowell Sherman Evades Detectives NEW YORK, Sept. 21,—Lowell Sherman, movie villain, wanted as a witness in the Arbuckle case, evaded detectives here today when they at- tempted to serve a subpoena on him. Sherman left the Twentieth Century Limited, on which he came from Chi. cago, at Harmon, in Westchester county, when the steam engine is changed for an electric. Detectives waiting at the Grand Central station for him were told that he had driven away from the train with a woman. District Attorney Swann nofified Weatchester county police, as well as those of surrounding comnties, to look out for Sherman, whom Swann wanted to subpoena at the request of San Francisco authorities. Detectives said they learned that he was traveling with a man giving the name of E.
