BERRY CRISIS IS OVER FOR NOW Canneries Take All Surplus Stock; Oranges Up It is believed that the berry crists is over for a few days. Canneries are consuming all the surplus stock and Friday's brisk trading for Sat urday's and Sunday’s supply has caused a firm market at $1.75 to $2 a crate wholesale, The major- ity of sales were at the latter price. | Fancy oranges are 50 cents a case higher at the southern shipping points and houses which bought the fruit at the increased price will be forced to sell accordingly. Most of the apples now being sold are from cold storage, but the quality is not decreased and the apples are meet ing a fair demand. The cool weather is hampering the sale on watermelons, which were quoted at 4% to 5 cents pound, ied J) Heavy shipments of the local he lettuce are rolling to Eastern mar kets daily, where there is a strong demand. The lettuce was selling at from $1 to $2 a crate on the attle wholesale market. Local cauli |flower was moving well at $2 to $2.25 for a dozen heads. California green beans were sell jing for less, at $250 tw $2.75 a hamper. Surplus butter being sent to stor age is keeping that market steady Eggs are reported to be firm.
