On the other hand, a-great deal of money can be saved by the careful motorist who watches her car, real- izes that a small but efficient tool kit is meant for use. For repairing a slight leak in the water system, a bit of adhesive tape wound tightly around the leak will usually answer; but a well chewed Piece of chewing gum is just as good! For a leak in the gasoline system, often a bit of ordinary soap rubbed in will answer, Shellac will make a more or less permanent repair. Of course, if the leak is so bad that a Service soldering job 1s necessary, it is best to put the car in the hands of the re- pair man. Then there are spark plug trou: bles. Victory Motor Car Co. * 1018 East Pike St. Distributors for Western Washington East 704 The new system is said to be the most complete that has yet been placed on the market. It is oper- ated by a Willys-Knight sleeve- valve motor, a motor known for its simplicity of operation and its quietness, The engine has been de- veloped to such an extent that it requires practically no attention and is so simple that a child can operate it, according to those who have observed it. The complete plant consists of a Wiltys-Knight engine, directly con- nected gtnerator, a simple contro’ box and a storage battery. The Knight engine burns kerosene at approximately one-half the cost of gasoline. It is air-cooled, self- cranking, self-running, and self- stopping. The control is semi- automatic. The noisy poppet valves are eliminated in the Willys Knight engine. In their place are two cylindrical sleeves, one within the other, which glide stlently up and down between the piston and the cylinder wall. The long ports in these sleeves register with each other and with the ports in the cylinder wall at the proper inter- vals, forming large and direct pas- sages for the intake and exhaust gases, This engine, with Its sleeve-valve construction, improves with use, it has been proven. The extensive sales and service organization of this company and its great factory facilities make it obvious that purchasers will not lack for service attention. The new lighting system is adapted to an increasing number of uses, In addition to its general utility on the farm, it is available for cotton gins, lumber and con- struction camps, ol] and gas pump- ing stations, mines, stores, garages, dairies, telephone exchanges fn smaller towns, warehouses and sta- tions. It also may be utilized for hospitals, fishing and hunting clubs, country homes, street, store and home lighting {n small towns, thea- tres, military camps and in summer resorts and cottages. Willys light generator is shunt wound for 32 volts. It delivers 750 watts. The armature of the gene- rator, the engine fly wheel and crank shaft are constructed in practically one piece, thus eliminat- ing separate generator bearings and reducing friction.
