Dolly Martini, wife of a pronfinent attorn killed and five others injured early Bept de divorced was yesterday when an auto in which they were enjoying joy ride overturned. All five have been placed under arrest. The auto was borrowed from William Ladd and was being driven by John Robert Bon. The occupants of the car were the guests of Harry Holland, Mr. Ladd’s chauffeur, and besides Mrs De Martini, Holland and Robertson, included three sisters, Anna, and Rose Myer. The party re- turning from a roadhouse a few! talles east of this city, Robertson being at the wheel. He drove mad ly from the start, regardless of re- peated appeals to slow down. When the car reached the dangerous “S" turn on the Portland Automobile Club's race course, Robertson was unable to hold the machine and the heavy car skidded and overturned, burying the four women beneath it. Robertson seemed to have on trely lost his head and was later found at the bottom of a nearby wel ptt, lustily calling for help, jolland, with more presence of mind, secured a fence rail and pried the car up sufficiently to permit the three Myer girls to crawl out + He then extricated Mra. De Martini The woman was terribly mangled and practically dead when taken from beneath the car. Sheriff Robert L. Stevens and the coroner's office were notified and went to the scone of the trag edy. When the details of the acci @ent were ascertained, Sheriff Stevens took the party into cus- tody, pending the action of the Prosecuting attorney.
