Even while the flames were roiling heavenward tn vast volumes Gaturday night, the editor of the P.1, wlephoned to the editor of ‘The Star, offering to place the entire plant of the Pl. at bis ser vies, in order to get out the Star on Monday and henceforth until @ new plant could be secured for this newspaper That the offer was gladly accepted goes without saying, It was quick, unsolicited and generous, The Star was temporarily helpless, there being no other printing plant in the city, with one exception, which was capable of handling the editions of the paper Printing presses and linotypes cannot be obtained on short notice and The Star would have been fo a dire extremity had the P.1. not come to ite rescue. ‘The Star's editorial and business office forces this morning moved into the quarters kindly furnished by the PI. Space in the editorial and business offices, also fn the mailing rooms, was pro vided, with the complete use of the composing room and press room of the morning paper. Having such ample facilities the business of The Star, tn all of its departments, is moving along now as amoothly as though the paper were established in its own quarters and the printing from its own plant. During Sunday both Business Manager 8. P. Weston, of the Pt. and Editor Erastus Brainerd came down to look after the comfor table instanation of The Star in the P.l, butiding and to make say arrangements possible to facilitate ite business. The Star owes a debt of gratitede to the P.-1, for its kindly aid in this emergency, which it le giad to acknowledge tn thie pablio manne! ny FW. SCHARP RE. “Why.
