20 THE SEATTLE STAR-SATURDAY, DEC. 9, 1905. x . 7 808 First Ave., Seattle, Washington, October 26, 1905. To the Manager of the | Independent Telephone Co., City. Dear Sir:--It may be of interest to you to know that in the recent ‘‘Times Knowledge Contest,’’ the winning of the prize was due in a large measure to the service rendered by the Independent telephone. Every answer from the seventy-four business firms represented in the Contest was obtained by telephone, and all but nine of these were called over the Independent. So excellent was the service that in checking the answers the last time Mrs. Hicks informs me that she called the sixty-five firms in but little more than one hour, averaging almost, if not quite, ome call per minute, and this without any apparent effort at speed. Such service as this is worthy of praise and I wish to assure you of my appreciation of the same, personally, as well as convey to you the thanks of Mrs. Hicks, for the excellent manner in which she was served. Very truly yours, IRA W. HICKS. ~ Aid as ae eee
