Feb. 11.-_The local market opened stedy, 6 to 7 points down, with trading falrly active in the call. Afterward trading was more or less of an evening-up character over the holidey tomorrow. There was vers little news in circulation. Liverpool continues easy, but this was atiributed to quite a lot of arbitrage busi- ness -belng done between the local market and the formér, in which business at this difference there is good money. The talk is that the March notices, which are due around the 28th. will be taken care of by the local bulls, headed by the lerge Wall-street operators. But it s hard to give any definite opinion at this time on_tuis question. There i§ no change in the spot situation which would lead to any bear pressure. The indications are that the heavy move- ment will continue this week, and by the same token there fs evers reason for belleving that the spinners’ takings will again be very large. The erop s turning ont much larger than the cotton world expected, and consumption prom- ises to exceed even the most bullish estimate. The question of fust what the prices should be is a_hard one to solve, especially as the fact that consumption promises to continue heavy is offset by the fact that the mew acreage is sure 10 be the largest ever planted. As the season grows older the public will begin to form some opinions, and will then undoubtedly come back Grain_and Coffee ex- STOCKS. , |High.[Low.| Bid.| Ask. | into the market; but just now the question Is od. hence there will be too hard a one for the ontsider to attempt fo consequence from the | 27.300Mo.
