There was considerable debate at the meeting yesterday of the Supervisors over the proposed ordinance giving the Hoard of Health power to remove per- sons afflicted with typheid fever as well as others designated communicable diseases to an isolation hospital. The ‘| ordinance provides that such removal shall not be caused until after a per- sonal investigation by the president of the Health Board. Supervisor Gallagher explained that the ordinance was designed to prevent the possible spread of typhus in the refugee camps. Supervisor Coleman ojected to Including typhus among the diseases which call for the removal of persons afflicted therewith to an isolation hospital. He thought that a quarantine would be adequate to pre- vent the spread of the disease. Supervisor Boxton said there was no need for the ordinance, as the sickness in the camps was being kept in check by the Health Board. Atterney James A. Devoto of the Health Board said that an ordinance similar to the one suggested is in suc- cessful operation in several Eastern cities. Supervisor Kelly suggested that & rider be added to the ordinance appropriating 330,000 for a hospital to care for the patients, but no action was taken on it. The board finally decided to post- pone further consideration of the ordi- nance until next Monday.
