The firm ness, however, was more due to light offerings than to any great amount of buying, the vol- ume of trading on the whole being lerate. Commission houses and some of the leading shorts were the principal bidders. The seiling was chiefly by longs. The principal bullish factor was @ cablegram from Argentina, saying that harvest operations were delayed by wet weather, The market c\ofd strong, with prices practically at the hifhest point of the day.
