Hayfield, Mian., Dec. 30.—Ole Ha- bey, village marshal, was shot and killed by burglars at 2 o’clock this morning. Hays, may withia the next few days become the property of A’ B. Allen of St. Paul, who is in the city today looking over the |property with a view of pur- chasing. Although the terms of the sale have not as yet been completed, the deal has been contemplated for some time and willin all probability be con- summated within the nexttwo or three days. Mr. Allen is said to be a newspaper man of wide ex- perience and has been identified with a number of newspapers throughout the state, What Mr. Hays’ plans are for the future s not known, but it is probable that the major portion of his time will be taken up with drain- ‘ age business. ¥ CORRESPONDENCE 2 LOUIS. Hanson on Little Moose. They had a Christmas tree and were even honored by the pres- ence of Santa Claus during the evening. All repot a very pleasant time, " John Malmquist of Pimush lake went to Cass Lake last week. Christmas was also celebrated at the home of Mr, and Mrs. H, E. Rice. A very pretty Christ- mas tree was the feature of the early evening, which was greatly appreciated by the children, large and small. Later on ample justice was done to an oyster supper. Those present beside the family were: O S. Newman and family of Moose Lake, John Arendt of Pimush Lake, H. W. Alsop and sons, Chauncey aund Ernest, of Birch township, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Pracht and E. D. Bentley and daughter, Inez. J. Neils Lumber Co. -has been using the tank on the loggiog road the past week and hope to bave the road in coudition for hauling so:n. To Change Locations. A number of changes in busi- ness locations will be made the first of the year. Gibbons & Torrance will remove their law offices from the present location on Beltrami avenue to the Miles block, Sam Fryhling, the tailor, ! will.occupy the building vacated by them and the Harrington & Larson employment office will} be removed from the McTaggart building to Mr. Fryling’s tormer location. : ’ The local Odd Fellows lodge held a meeting last night at which one candidate was put through the second degree. Strike Extending in Poland. St. Petersburg, Dec. 29.—The news from Russian Poland indicates that the general strike'is extending.
