Mackey was also in the match and played in his usual flne form, scoring three goals for his side. Cyril Tobin also played a matchless game, and added additional laurels to his grow= ing fame. P. THRALL Retiring Superintendent of Rallway Mail Service is Remembered by His Associates. H. P. Thra}, retiring superintendent of the local 'division of the railway mail service, was presented with a handsome gold watch and dlamond- studded locket last night by the men who worked with him as a fellow- clerk and under him as superintend- ent. The presentation speech was made by A. H. Stephens, who will succeed Thrall as superintendent. In behalf of the members of the department he thanked Mr. Thrall for the courtesy and consideration which he had ex- | tended at all times to the men under | him. ‘ In a few words Mr. Thrall thanked | his former subordinates for the token | of esteem tendered him on his retire- | ment and assured them that while life | should last it would be treasured as would be the memory of his asso- ciates in the postoffice. Mr. Thrall leaves to take charge of the mall business of the Harriman system and his headquarters will be Chicago. —_— Scandanavian Fete. The Scandinavian Society of San Francisco will celebrate its forty-sixth annual Christmas tree festival and ball at Native Sons’ Hall on Saturday, December 17. Special provisions have been made | for the entertainment of the children for Saturday afternoon at 5 o'clock, when they will be treated with a large Christmas tree elaborately bedecked, and heavily laden with toys.
